As a Space Planner you are instrumental in the organization and execution of merchant lead initiatives. You are a key connection point between stores and merchants and are the evangelist of merchandising team strategies. Thoughtful attention to details and timely communication are a must in this role.
o Store Maps
o Ownership over accuracy of store maps in region of responsibility
o Work with DMs/SMs to survey each section of store. The DM is your primary partner to ensure timeliness with regards to updates.
o Manage subject/category space and juxtaposition.
o Field store and DM issues/questions regarding store layouts and initiatives and ensure they are addressed.
o Additional Data Maintenance
o Work with Store Communications and DMs to gather local store market analysis data. Communicate local store market analysis to merchants.
o Maintain fixture database ensuring up-to-date understanding store fixture ownership.
o Work with the Associate Space Planner to ensure all store Clusters are up to date.
o Project-manage major merchandising initiatives.
o Maintain and manage project documents and timelines.
o Set agendas with enough time before meeting so attendees can come to meeting prepared to answer questions
o Distribute recaps within 2 days of meeting.
o Communicate project needs and deadlines and follow up with cross functional partners including Store Operations/Communications, Industrial Purchasing, Loss Prevention, Creative, Facilities, Finance (payroll implications), Stores (DM/SMs), Merchants, and upper management as needed.
o Ensure updates are made to store communication documents including Shelving Guidelines and VMS pages.
o Work with visual merchandising to ensure fixture availability for VM initiatives.
o Communicate with other Space Planners to ensure store maps in their effected region/district of responsibility are updated.
o Work with Store Planning and Analytics to ensure space allocation is appropriate based on inventory levels.
o Perform additional tasks as requested by supervisor

o Knowledge and understanding of the principles of space allocation and spatial relationships
o Experienced in Microsoft Office, Auto CAD, ePlanner (for comments), Corporate Reporting Center, IMM, IM2.
o Travel 1x per month approximately but more is possible depending on the project.
o At least 5 years experience in either retail stores or Space Planning department.
o Education requirement - Bachelors Degree
